Editorial: Abstracts in your native language.

We decided earlier this year to trial the idea that authors be encouraged to write two Abstracts for their papers, one in their preferred native-language and one in English. For the purposes of this trial, German was picked as the native language. The Editors and Publishers have over the years observed that nuances, which sometimes are very important, can be lost or obscured if the author of a paper is not writing in her or his preferred native-language. Our thinking at EJMS was that there would be value in having a rock-solid summary of a paper—“rock-solid” because the author has not been distracted by language. The first dual German–English Abstract Paper by Thevis and colleagues was published in Issue 2 this year.1 The second such Paper appears on page 107.2 References
